It’s never too late to start studying dance! Teenagers new to dance or teens who identify as more of a “mover” than a “dancer”, will love our teen Ballet/Jazz combo dance class. Encore’sTeen Ballet/Jazz combo dance class combines techniques of classical ballet and modern dance with the current forms of popular dance. The Class will focus on technique, proper body alignment, terminology, and musicality suitable for both ballet and Jazz. This class offers development in coordination, musical awareness, and listening skills while helping students implement their natural creativity in a stress free environment. Through this program, boys and girls gain a sense of joy and accomplishment. Once primary steps are learned basic combinations of skills will be added.
*Important Note: Payment must accompany registration or class will be dropped. Encore offers multiple student / multiple class discounts. There are no refunds on tuition once the classes have started. Payment plans are available. Call 435-414-0049 for more information. In order to run the class five children will need to be registered. Scholarships are available. Please contact us for a scholarship form.
Jamie Helfer is a professional dancer who recently traded skyscrapers for mountains. After years of dancing in New York, Jamie is ecstatic to be twirling around the red rocks where her career first took off. She was last seen playing Claire in the Tipsy Whisper and working alongside Josh Prince developing his new show, Curtain Up! She has entertained audiences as Louise in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Carousel at Riverside Theatre, Lightning Girl in SUPERYOU, Liza in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and performed around the US in various shows including: Signin’ in the Rain, Mamma Mia!, Disney’s Newsies, Shrek the Musical, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Peter Pan, Disney’s Tarzan, Odyssey Dance Theatre’s Thriller and more.
Jamie began dancing at the age of three at Carousel Dance Studio in West Hills, California. She quickly fell in love with the art of storytelling through movement and competed in all styles of dance. She was named Hollywood Vibe’s Teen Dancer of the Year before graduating high school and made the decision to go straight into the industry. She booked her first professional gig at Tuacahn Amphitheatre at the age of 17 and worked back to back seasons before moving to New York. After years in the big apple, Jamie could hear the red rocks calling! She and her husband (who she met at Tuacahn!) took the leap of faith to build the next chapter of their artistic career here in St. George!
When Jamie is not performing, she loves to teach! She prides herself on working with dancers of all levels and ages. Whether you’re a beginner, a weekend warrior, or an elite dancer aspiring to Broadway, Jamie enjoys tailoring her instructions to suit. She’s very excited to join Encore this season and very much looks forward to working with you!
