Course Description:
Students learn the fundamentals of theatrical collaboration through ensemble-based activities that highlight the importance of teamwork, active listening, and group creativity.
This fun and dynamic acting class is designed for young performers to explore the basics of storytelling, teamwork, and movement, all through exciting games and activities. Focused on building ensemble skills, the class introduces children to the principles of Laban and Viewpoints, two foundational techniques that encourage movement exploration, spatial awareness, and emotional expression.
Through a series of improvisational exercises, students will learn how to connect with their bodies, collaborate through play, and bring stories to life. The class is designed to help kids step out of their heads and into their bodies, learning how to use aspects of movement and physicality to communicate emotions, ideas, and character. By working together as a team, they’ll discover how to create engaging stories while building confidence and a strong sense of camaraderie.
Whether they’re learning to move with purpose, reacting to their fellow performers, or working through an improvised scene, children will grow as both actors and individuals. Expect laughter, creativity, and a lot of teamwork as each child takes the stage in a supportive and collaborative environment.
