The Production Assistant (PA) plays a vital role in supporting the Stage Manager and Production Manager and facilitating the smooth operation of rehearsals and performances. This position is a young artist leadership opportunity designed to provide hands-on experience in production management, offering insight into the backstage workings of a theatrical production. The PA serves as a bridge between the cast and crew, contributing to organization, communication, and backstage operations. -

Sound Operator

Sound Operator- Working with Lizzii Jensen
The Sound Operator plays a vital role in bringing the auditory dimension of a theatrical production to life.
Working under the direction of the Sound Designer and in collaboration with the Director, Stage Manager, and Production Team.
The Sound Operator is responsible for executing all sound cues, operating sound equipment, and ensuring consistency in sound quality throughout rehearsals and performances.
This role combines technical proficiency with artistic sensitivity to create an immersive audience experience. -

Wardrobe Assistant

Wardrobe Assistant- Working with Jackie Ottesen
The Wardrobe Assistant is a youth support role that works under the direction of the Wardrobe Manager to help manage, organize, and maintain costumes throughout the production process.
This role provides hands-on backstage experience, building responsibility and organizational skills while supporting Encore’s mission to teach life skills through theater.
Wardrobe Assistants are not responsible for design decisions, but they play a vital role in ensuring the smooth execution of fittings, rehearsals, quick changes, and performances. -

Props Assistant

Props Assistant- Working with Amy Childress
The Props Assistant works directly under the Props Designer/Manager to provide organizational, logistical, and hands-on support for all prop-related needs of the production.
This role ensures that props are sourced, prepared, maintained, and managed throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
The Props Assistant is detail-oriented, dependable, and eager to learn, supporting both the creative vision of the Props Designer and the practical needs of the cast and crew. -

The Lighting Operator is responsible for implementing and executing the lighting design for Encore’s theatrical productions.
Working in close collaboration with the Lighting Designer, Director, Stage Manager, and Production Team, the Lighting Operator ensures that all lighting cues are executed with accuracy and consistency, enhancing the visual storytelling of the production.
This role requires technical precision, artistic sensitivity, and strong collaborative skills to bring the Lighting Designer’s vision to life. -

Set/Load In Assistant- Working with Kristen Stocks
The Load-In/Strike Assistant supports Encore’s productions by assisting with the setup and teardown of sets, props, costumes, and backstage areas.
This role is essential in ensuring that the production space is safe, efficient, and prepared for both rehearsals and performances.
Load-In/Strike Assistants work under the direction of the Production Manager, Stage Manager, and department heads (such as Props Master and Costumer) to ensure smooth transitions before and after each production. -

The Backstage Assistant is a vital support role during rehearsals, technical rehearsals, and performances.
Working under the direction of Stage Management, the Backstage Assistant helps ensure that everything behind the curtain runs smoothly — from scene shifts and prop placement to mic swaps and costume changes.
This role requires attentiveness, reliability, and a calm, professional presence.Backstage Assistants contribute directly to the success of the production by staying organized, anticipating needs, and maintaining a supportive environment for the cast and crew.
This role provides hands-on experience in multiple areas of backstage operations, making it an excellent opportunity for developing responsibility, teamwork, and awareness of live theater processes. -
