Come From Away Page to Stage Workshop information:
Dates: April 22, 2026, 4-6 PM at The Electric Theater
“Creating Story Through Location, Circumstance, and Culture”
As we prepare to see Come From Away, our workshop will focus on the creation
of this piece by exploring the backdrop of September 11, 2001. Our exploration will
focus on the small Canadian towns that were used as landing zones when planes
needed to be grounded on this tragic day. We will see how people have a way of
coming together, supporting, uplifting, and creating a feeling of home in even the
darkest of times.
Through this analysis and discussion students will learn about the power story and
art have in coping with and processing tragedy. In tandem with seeing how history
can be captured through a theatrical lens that builds up our artistic understanding
and empathy as humans.
