Musical Theater Camps

A whole show in a single week. Our week-long camp intensives are where our youngest Young Artists, ages 6 to 11, take their very first steps on stage — joyful, supportive, and often a family's first taste of Encore.

About Camps

Musical Theater Camps are Encore's week-long intensive format for our youngest Young Artists, ages 6 to 11 — and the very first tier of our Junior Stages pathway. Inspired by classic theater camps, a full show is rehearsed and performed in about a week, with performances running around 30 minutes. The format is charming and endearing, with just enough structure to model what real theater feels like. Joy and curiosity come first.

What Makes Camps Special

A whole show in one joyful week

Just enough structure to feel like real theater — with fun and curiosity leading the way.

Week-long intensive

Young Artists rehearse and perform a complete show in about 6 to 8 days, typically culminating in a single performance of about 30 minutes.

Mentored by Encore's Youth Leadership Group

Our Youth Leadership Program participants serve as camp counselors — the secret sauce. Older Young Artists build teaching and leadership skills while supporting the youngest ones.

Built for ages 6–11

Material, pacing, and expectations are designed specifically for our youngest Young Artists — age-appropriate from the first rehearsal to final bows.

Fun and foundational skills

Joy and curiosity come first. Campers pick up the building blocks of singing, acting, and moving on stage in a warm, supportive environment — often their first taste of Encore.

FAQ

Camp questions

Everything families ask before a Young Artist's first camp. Don't see your question? Reach out — we're glad to help.

Who are Camps for?
Camps are designed for our youngest Young Artists, ages 6 to 11. They're the first tier of our Junior Stages pathway and a wonderful first introduction to Encore.
How long is a camp?
Camps run as a short intensive of about 6 to 8 days — Young Artists rehearse and perform a full show in that time, typically culminating in one performance of about 30 minutes.
What show will my Young Artist perform?
Each camp stages a short, age-appropriate adaptation of a licensed musical. Past camps have included Dare to Dream Camp and Jungle Book Camp. Camp adaptations are shorter and distinct from our full productions of the same titles.
Who leads the camps?
Camps are guided by Encore staff alongside counselors from our Youth Leadership Program — older, experienced Young Artists who mentor the youngest campers while developing their own teaching and leadership skills.
Does my Young Artist need experience?
Not at all. Camps are built around fun and foundational skills, with joy and curiosity first. They're often a young person's very first experience on stage.
What comes after Camps?
Camps are the entry point of the Encore pathway. The natural next step is our Junior Shows, then Emerging Artist Shows, then Signature Shows.
